Installing XBMC Kodi
Installing XBMC Kodi (is it’s new name Kodi) in Linux you will have to use a terminal window to install the PPA needed for the newest version of Kodi. It’s pretty straight forward so lets get to it.
Open a terminal window and copy an past (one line at a time) the following commands:
sudo apt-get install software-properties-common
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install kodi
Once thats done you can close the terminal window and go to your Menu then Sound & Video section and open Kodi.
You should have a screen that look like this.
Lets slide over to the right and go to System and then select Settings.
Now you need to select Addons
Now from here you can Install from Zip file or select Get Add-ons and browse through the default list of generic addons.
Here is a link to a Unofficial Addons for Kodi. Go to Addons in the menu, select Videos and download the ones you want.
Once you have download the add-ons you want, go back into Kodi and go to System then Addons then Install from Zip file.
Once you have installed all you Video Addons go back to Video then Add-ons and select the new add-ons you install.
I hope installing XBMC – Kodi was easy and fun. Don’t forget to explore for more add-ons, there a lot of them out there. Don’t forget to add SyFi channel and other cable only channels. One other add-on to look at Backup. So in the event you have to reinstall or move to another system you don’t have go find all the add-ons again.
Hope you have fun playing with this. Really is a great program.
